Hello. New member here. I'm looking to trade my present bird in for a 182 and do the King conversion. I had a couple of questions:
    1) Is the engine change a mandatory part of the King package?

    2) How much would it cost (ballpark) to do a King conversion (canard, wing extensions, et.al.) without mods to the engine, avionics, interior, or paint?

I'm trying to save some bucks here.

That would be a "Katmai-230," an otherwise stock 182 with canard and wingtip extensions. There are a number of these "in the field." I'm not sure from your post whether you also want the larger tires for unimproved landing strips or not.

A quick call to the Petersons will get you the pricing information.

Welcome to the forums! Lots of good information here, if you haven't done so already I recommend starting with this post and the links therein.

Yes. I want the full King conversion:
      1) Wing extensions
      2) canard
      3) Io-540
      4) paint/Interior
      5) Fresh STC
      6) Carbon fiber prop

I have an avionics guy that will install a G500/GTN750/650 near my home drone.

The King Katmai comes with the Continental IO-550. I presume that's what you meant and "IO-540" was a typo?

The reason I ask is that Cessna 182S and 182T have the Lycoming IO-540. The canard and support structure are not compatible with the Lycoming IO-540 installation and thus 182S and 182T are not eligible for any of the Peterson canard conversions. Similarly the Lycoming-powered 182RG (R182, TR182) and the early turbo 182 models (T182) cannot have the canard installed.
